A few weeks ago I drove the SR 20 one last time (in 2006) before the snows came.

It was a beautiful drive, under blustery skies. The clouds disappeared shortly after Rainy Pass, and we were greeted with infinite blues by the time we reached Liberty Bell.

Nevertheless, the winds were fierce at Diablo and Ross Lakes.

someday I will climb this peak - if only to see the remnants of the cabin where Gary Snyder spent summer months, while Jack Kerouac languished atop Desolation.
