Dead trees abound at the Washington Pass Overlook. Yet, moss thrives on them - a most unusual sight
Behind the trees one sees the Kangaroo Range in the foreground, and Snagtooth Ridge in the background

A few weeks ago I drove the SR 20 one last time (in 2006) before the snows came.
It was a beautiful drive, under blustery skies. The clouds disappeared shortly after Rainy Pass, and we were greeted with infinite blues by the time we reached Liberty Bell.
Nevertheless, the winds were fierce at Diablo and Ross Lakes.
